ROTCAST INTRUSION
A downloadable game
Rotcast Intrusion is a grim, investigative horror visual novel set in the abandoned, condemned headquarters of the former ROTC 9 News—the epicenter of a mysterious tragedy two years prior. You play as the introverted Tech Staff of a rival news team, partnered with the ambitious Evelyn and your dogged boss, veteran reporter Harrison Rogers, on a mission to uncover the truth behind the disaster.

The official story is a fire and equipment failure, but the truth lies in the terrifying MELD Watch Satellite and the military's insidious MO-01 Protocol. You quickly discover the staff wasn't killed, but corrupted and fused into grotesque, electrical beings—the Entities—by a weaponized "Rotcast" signal designed to incite emotional overdrive and turn humans into bio-mechanical conductors.
Armed with your essential Omni-GRIPT tool, you must navigate five floors of fused metal, pulsing static, and latent horrors. Every step is a risk:

- Resource Management: Carefully manage your Omni-GRIPT's Battery to solve puzzles and temporarily neutralize Entities.
- Corruption Check: Monitor your own Signal Interference, as well as the rising corruption levels in Harrison and Evelyn. Every aggressive choice or exposure point pushes them closer to a violent, final fusion and one of five possible Bad Endings.
- The Final Quiz: The ultimate climax pits your knowledge against the sentient Manic-Kin Entity in a high-stakes knowledge test, where failure means the instant, permanent fusion of your teammates.
Collect all 28 fragments of evidence to expose the military's corporate conspiracy, silence the Rotcast signal, and escape with the truth—or succumb to the insidious static and become another forgotten component of the monstrous machine.
### 🎨 The Uncanny and Hated Art of AI: A Developer's Choice
As someone with a background in traditional painting and illustration for games, many have asked why the graphics for this project are generated entirely by Artificial Intelligence. The answer lies at the heart of the game's theme.
This game is a commentary on the accelerating power of media and technology—how it can become an unchecked force capable of great creation, but also of profound destruction. To explore this dichotomy, I chose to use the tool as part of the message.
Visual Origin: The game's unsettling rooms are AI-altered versions of personal photos taken during Urbex expeditions. Similarly, the main male and female roles are derived from manipulated images of two former work colleagues who enthusiastically volunteered to be digitized into the project.
By utilizing AI to create a world about how AI can destroy, we established a meta-textual loop that makes the game's atmosphere and visuals inherently unsettling and perfectly aligned with its core cautionary tale.

I had listed this game having used AI in the code and graphics thinking that showed up in the listing or description. I later realized I have to manually ad it as a tag for category for it to show up. I later even went into the description to make sure I wrote up not just what was listed under AI but how and why it was used. Please know this was just a fun experiment and I will be returning to my regular illustration and painting style. Although I will still be using AI to help me find bugs and errors in the coding because I struggle quite alot with these aspects of programming due to extreme dyslexia. Whether you hate me for this, love it or are just plan neutral I thank you from the bottom of my heart simply for giving my game a chance.
There's a certain irony about using AI generated images in a game who's hook is about technology fusing with humanity. It's an interesting story, gameplay is like an advanced visual novel and the mechanics are fine, but so much of the graphics have that uncanniness that AI images bring.
wow thanks! Honestly you saw right to the core of what I was going for! I’ll be honest I’m a bit unhappy with some of the things endings as I couldn’t push them as far as I wanted. I honestly wanted to get into a whole 4th wall break with AI/transhumanism horror thrown in but it makes me really happy to hear you call this an advanced vn!!! Thanks so much for playing and the kind words!
ok lets see how this goes...
